Anna Blake is a horse advocate, equine professional, and so much more who resides on her small farm of rescued critters in Colorado. She is the author of Relaxed and Forward: A Horse/Life Blog (www.annablakeblog.com) and the author of “Stable Relation: A Memoir of One Woman’s Journey Home, by Way of the Barn; Relaxed and Forward: Relationship Advice from Your Horse; Barn Dance: Nickers, Brays, Bleats, Howls, and Quacks: Tales from the Herd; and her soon-to-be-released book of poetry, Horse Prayers.
The first day of the clinic Anna will give an introductory presentation of the calming signal concept, and illustrate the concept through on-the-ground haltering of horses. (See for more details about content.) Participants will have the opportunity to be individually coached by Anna as they halter their own horse. The afternoon will be devoted to observing and responding to calming signals using horse agility exercises. Participants and their horses will work in small group sessions on a simple agility course. On the second day, participants will saddle up and explore concepts while mounted. Participants will work individually or in groups of two and be coached by Anna. (For those participants who would rather not ride, a second session of agility will be done.)
Participants are encouraged to bring their own horses, but there are a limited number of horses available at Aisling Ridge on a first-come-first-served basis at no cost for participants who cannot bring their own horse.
