Please Note:  Our program is currently full.  We will  update this section if openings become available.

We offer a wide variety of lesson options for all ages from beginner to advanced.  All of our lessons include education on horses, behaviour, communication, herd dynamics, horsemanship and horse care in addition to riding.

Students must arrive AT LEAST 20 minutes before their lesson time for grooming/tacking up their horse or pony, and stay 15 minutes after their lesson for un-tacking and clean-up, so plan for at least 1/2 an hour on top of their riding time.  Horse care is part of the lesson!

New Program!

Beginning this September, we will offer a new "Introduction to Horses" program.  This is a 12 week course that is required for all students who are new to the world of horses (i.e. those who have never had a lesson or have been on a horse less than 10 times).  After completing this course, students are eligible to register for the Beginner Program.  These lessons are 40min private lessons that run on Mondays between 4PM - 6:00PM and DO NOT require students to arrive early or stay after.

Beginner/Seasonal lessons run Monday & Wednesdays, 4:00PM - 9:00PM as well as Saturday mornings.  Year round lessons for intermediate/advanced riders run Tuesdays & Thursdays from 4:00PM - 8:00PM.

Riding Equipment:

We do have a few helmets at our barn for trial lessons, but once riders sign up for a full session ALL riders must have their own ASTM/SEI approved riding helmet, boots that cover the ankle and long pants in order to ride.

Lil' Leadliners Program (Currently suspended due to COVID-19):

For kids under 6

These little riders are not quite ready for full length, structured lessons so we offer a shorter 20 min session that starts them on the path to learning the basics of riding.  Children will be kept on a lead line for all riding.  These sessions generally run Saturday mornings and are $27.50/child/lesson +HST.  We have a very limited number of spots for this program, so early registration is encouraged.

Beginner Program 6-8

For ages 6-8 without prior experience

The beginner program is designed to give students the opportunity to experience all aspects of horses in a safe and fun environment for both the horse and rider.  In this program, students will be introduced to the basic concepts of horsemanship, behaviour, anatomy, horse care, stable care and riding with an emphasis on important life skills such as leadership, effective communication, self confidence and self esteem.  Lessons are structured as 30 minute, 1-on-1 private sessions and all riding is on lead line or lunge line on a variety of appropriate horses. Students can advance to the Foundation program once they're 8 years of age AND can demonstrate all Beginner skills at “good” or better.

Beginner Program 8+

For anyone over the age of 8 without prior experience

Students over the age of 8 generally develop and progress much faster than younger children, so this program is designed to allow students to progress at their own speed.  In this program, students will begin with the opportunity to experience all aspects of horses in a safe and fun environment for both the horse and rider.  Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of horsemanship, behaviour, anatomy, horse care, stable care and riding with an emphasis on important life skills such as leadership, effective communication, self confidence and self esteem.  Lessons are structured as 30 minute, 1-on-1 private sessions and riding starts on lead line or lunge line on a variety of appropriate horses, then progresses to independent riding (off lunge). Students can advance to the Foundation program once they can demonstrate all Beginner skills at “good” or better.  There is no minimum or maximum amount of time students will be in this program; students advance when their skill set is appropriate for moving on.

Foundation Program

For ages 8+ who have graduated from the Beginner Program or have been assessed at this level in an Trial Lesson

The Foundation program is designed to give students a complete and solid set of foundation skills they can build from and take in any direction they may choose to go in their riding.  No matter how advanced our skills and techniques become, we always take our foundation with us.  This program will also expose students to many different disciplines and specialties along the way, allowing the student to evaluate which ones they enjoy.  Students are assigned a horse and will work with that same horse for a full month.  This format allows the horse and student to bond with one another, form and explore the fundamentals of partnership.  At the end of the month, students are evaluated on their foundation skills and partnership with their assigned horse in addition to the progression of their other skills in riding, anatomy, horse care and stable care.  Students will either be reassigned the same horse or assigned a new horse for the 2nd month, depending on their instructor’s evaluation and recommendation.

Foundation lessons are up to 60 minutes and are structured in small groups between 2 – 4 students to allow the students to work together, learn from each other and learn to be around multiple horses and riders at the same time.  In addition to the life skills of leadership, effective communication, self confidence and self esteem, this program also includes emphasis on collaboration, creative problem solving, team work, offering and accepting constructive criticism.

Additional Programs

We have a number of additional programs available for students who have decided that horses and riding is their passion.  We offer a Part Board program as well as a very unique Horse Ownership program for students who have demonstrated  prerequisite skills and who are ready for more commitment.

**Please Note: In addition to horses, we have a very friendly dog, cats and chickens who call our farm home and are free to roam wherever they choose.**
